#youthfocus is is a two-year project initiated by the Turul Office and awarded under the Active Citizens Fund. The project aims to engage youth in community activities and develop their civic and leadership skills in three cities in Covasna County: Sfântu Gheorghe, Covasna, and Târgu Secuiesc. A total of 75 young people and 35 adults participate in various educational, awareness-raising, and consciousness-raising activities.
The flagship program of the association is The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award, initiated in 1956 in the United Kingdom and currently implemented in 140 countries worldwide, with tens of thousands of young people participating annually. This program provides alternative education for youth aged 14 to 24, focusing on life skills education. #youthfocus is based on this program, complemented by awareness campaigns and activities to strengthen active citizenship, such as organizing presentations in schools, producing educational films on media literacy, leadership skills development camps, experience exchange workshops, and three youth-led civic projects in collaboration with adults, followed by a celebratory event to conclude the activities.
The total project budget is €104,490, with €93,360 in external funding and a 10.65% contribution from the organization.
The project is implemented by the Turul Association in partnership with SEEDS – SEE beyonDborderS from Iceland, “Székely Mikó” National College in Sfântu Gheorghe, “Berde Áron” School of Arts and Crafts in Covasna, “Kőrösi Csoma Sándor” High School in Covasna, and Pro Pectus Association in Târgu Secuiesc, with financial support from the Active Citizens Fund Romania – Norwegian, Liechtenstein, and Icelandic Grants 2014-2021.
