We have launched the application process for the DOFE program (The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award), open to young people aged 14–24, a program that has shaped the lives of millions worldwide. The program offers a unique opportunity for personal development through volunteering, sports, skills development, and adventurous journeys.

The DOFE program was launched in 1956 by Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, husband of Queen Elizabeth II, together with German educator Kurt Hahn and Lord John Hunt, leader of the first successful Everest expedition. Since then, more than 8 million young people have taken part in it worldwide. The goal is simple: to help young people become prepared for life through experiences and challenges.

The program offers development opportunities on three levels (bronze, silver, gold) for young people aged 14–24, and covers four main areas: volunteering, physical activity (sports), learning new skills, and adventurous journeys. We, at Com.Pass Association, accompany the participants with experienced mentors: we support them, answer their questions, and help them overcome challenges.

In the DOFE program, every young person puts themselves to the test – perseverance, growth, and self-discovery are at the center. Applicants receive a mentor, choose the level that suits them (bronze – 3 months, silver – 6 months, gold – 12 months), and then dedicate three hours per week to development in three areas – sports, volunteering, and skills development. The process is accompanied by preparatory sessions, camps, and adventure hikes, culminating in the final expedition and the festive award ceremony.

We ensure that participants receive professional support throughout the entire journey: our mentors, training camps, community events, and solid organizational background guide them along the way. DOFE is an internationally recognized program, and its successful completion is rewarded with an official certificate. This recognition not only strengthens young people’s confidence and experience but also provides a tangible advantage in further studies or the world of work.

What do young people gain?

  • International recognition and a certificate
  • Experience in a chosen field
  • Perseverance, responsibility, and resilience
  • Experiential learning, a new community, and friends
  • A once-in-a-lifetime adventure
