#childsteps is a project funded by the Turul Office under the Active Citizens Fund Romania. The program aims to support civic participation in five localities in Háromszék (Szeklerland), focusing on civic education through specific actions and the development of an educational manual. The 24-month project involves one hundred children aged 7-14 and ten volunteer educators. The children participate in weekly civil education activities—80 of them are from Nagyajta, Középajta, Kálnok, and Barót (Baraolt), while 20 are from Sepsiszentgyörgy (Sfântu Gheorghe). The ten volunteers, together with the project team, engage 245 local residents from the five localities in events that promote active participation in their own communities and the role of civil society.
The total project budget is €81,072.00, with 7.49% representing the organization’s contribution.
The Turul Association implements the project in partnership with Gaál Mózes Elementary School in Barót (Baraolt), Kriza János High School in Nagyajta, and “Benkő József” Elementary School in Középajta, with support from the Active Citizens Fund Romania. The program is funded by Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway through the EEA Grants 2014-2021.
